The romantic 20-hectare park, designed by Choulot, surrounds the château like a green bower. It follows on from an 18th-century garden created by an emulator of Lenôtre. You'll appreciate the grand perspectives, serpentine paths, skylights, water mirrors and fabriques, copses and groves, not forgetting the island and its pretty Art Nouveau bridge.
Although the exotic species (tulip trees) have disappeared with age and time, some beautiful species remain, notably pines. And next to the garden with its rose garden and fruit trees, at the rear of the 17th-century Orangerie, stands a recently restored trompe l'oeil, evoking the painted décor that undoubtedly served as the backdrop for 18th-century festivities.
