    Unmissable palm trees

Coconut palms, date palms, oil palms, rattans... Palms are essential plants in many countries.
Their graphic appearance is a source of inspiration for many artists. The Golden Palm for the most represented plant in the Art Deco movement goes to the palm tree! The geometry and aesthetics of its leaves can be found in many objects and architectural elements of the Roaring Twenties.

The exhibition focuses on this mythical "giant grass", which is not a tree and whose "trunk" is actually a "stipe". There are a wide variety of species, with very different morphologies and uses.
The spotlight will be on the rare and emblematic specimens preserved at the botanical garden.

The tour of the tropical greenhouses is based on the Palmes & Co and Ethnopalmes exhibitions, made available by the Conservatoire et Jardin botanique de Genève, an international reference for this type of plant.

An exhibition organized as part of the Métro'Folies 2025 events, celebrating Art Deco in the Greater Nancy area.
