Constructed as a triptych, 'Les yeux noirs' explores and questions the reproduction of domestic and intra-family violence. How far can heredity justify such acts? Céline Delbecq probes the unfathomable, showing us how violence grows and insinuates itself everywhere. The elegantly restrained staging gives full rein to the words, with an accuracy that at times sends shivers down the spine as the anguish gradually builds. The author draws us into a dark, powerful play, in which glimmers of hope nevertheless emerge, of a bright tomorrow when those black eyes, full of hatred, will be no more.

Céline Delbecq is an associate artist at CDN Nancy Lorraine. The theater welcomed her with 'A cheval sur le dos des oiseaux' at act 4 in 2023.
