    Paris 1925

A few years before the International Exhibition, young composers organized concerts in Parisian studios and small concert halls, giving them the opportunity to have their works performed. Erik Satie, for example, founded "La Société des nouveaux jeunes". This camaraderie, this friendship between young artists, attracted the attention of journalists. One of them wrote an article entitled "Les Six Français". Paris was abuzz with the formation of a new school, the Groupe des Six, which included the names Auric, Durey, Tailleferre, Honegger, Milhaud and Poulenc.

"It has been said that we were six pupils of Erik Satie, that we followed an aesthetic, defined, limited, traced by Jean Cocteau."

A club? A school? A musical party? Or did they want to keep their independence for themselves?

With works of varying dimensions, reserved exclusively for winds, this concert will give pride of place to two composers from the Groupe des Six, and prove that all these young talents had the firm intention of preserving their freedom in the Paris of the interwar period.
