At a time when we are becoming aware of the impasse in our consumer society, the character of Harpagon, the rich, widowed, stingy bourgeois, played by the powerful John Arnold, may well appear in a new light. Where do we stand today when it comes to avarice? In theater, the best way to ask a question is to play it out, joyfully. Clément Poirée takes one of Molière's most famous comedies and pushes penny-pinching to the limit with a "stingy" Avar. The troupe of eight actors begins almost naked, waiting for the audience to provide them with costumes and props so they can start playing! A participatory performance space is created for a circular show. The public's donations, which for the duration of the evening have become a source of wealth, will be redistributed to local associations who will be able to share them further.
