    Julia Vidit's project
Theater in touch with the world
Theater, as a living art form and as a place, enables us to collectively make the world. The art of theater, populated by actors, authors and emotions, is at the heart of the adventure proposed by Julia Vidit, director of the Théâtre de la Manufacture. Gabriel Garran's phrase "The future of theater belongs to those who don't go to the theater" guides her in this adventure. To ensure that everyone feels invited to attend the theater, she offers a wide diversity of forms and registers on stage, aims to advance the representation of minorities on stage, and reaches out to local residents with shows performed in venues not dedicated to live performance.
In association with artists Bérangère Vantusso, Elise Chatauret, Pauline Ringeade and Rébecca Chaillon, and authors Guillaume Cayet, Céline Delbecq, Catherine Verlaguet and Marilyn Mattei, Julia Vidit offers a resolutely contemporary theater, with a strong presence of women artists. It's a theater that's not afraid of repertory, as long as it's in touch with today's world and turned towards its audience.

    A theater inhabited by artists
The associate artists will be present for long periods of time, in order to work closely and effectively with all our audiences. Active in the city and beyond, all these accomplices will work to strengthen the links between works and spectators.

Theater beyond the walls: a touring season and small-scale productions
One of the main thrusts of Julia Vidit's project is to take the theater out of its walls, to reach out to audiences who are sometimes far from cultural centers, to people living in suburban or rural areas, and to create in local areas.
From 2021 onwards, the Théâtre de la Manufacture will be developing a touring project across the département, as part of a dynamic process of co-construction in partnership with local players and guest artistic teams.
In parallel with our large-scale shows, each season we'll be presenting lighter forms that are easy to move around, so that theater can be performed everywhere and for everyone. The presentation of these short shows will enable us to meet other audiences, some of whom have never been to the theater, or have never tackled certain essential subjects.

Two off-site creative residencies will be programmed each season,
One in the metropolitan area, or in suburban and rural areas, enabling residents and artists to experience a shared theatrical adventure,
One in a secondary school, followed by a tour of schools.

Existing small-scale productions from the repertory of companies hosted on the CDN stage will also be presented in the Greater Nancy area and beyond (diffusion).
The presentation of these light forms will be the subject of a "Temps fort" programmed in September each season, at Micropolis, with performances and meetings for the public, partners and professionals.

    Theater for young audiences
The CDN wants to reach out to young audiences, creating a new dynamic and offering shows for children aged 7 and over, and their families.
Theater has a role to play with young people. In the current context, this is more than an obvious necessity. Theater provides a space for freedom, encounters and exchanges, opening doors to the imaginary and to dreams. Theater is a collective experience, an experience of thought and shared emotions.
Director Olivier Letellier and author Catherine Verlaguet will be joining forces to launch this initiative.

    A responsible theater
The Théâtre de la Manufacture aims to be a socially responsible company. It places this responsibility at the very heart of its project, with the aim of adapting the CDN's activities to social, economic and environmental changes, thereby guaranteeing the continuity and strength of its public service missions. A responsible company works conscientiously and in harmony with its ecosystem.
