The private mansion to which the street "rue des loups" owes its name was built by the architect Germain Boffrand in the 18th century. The entrance consists of a monumental gate surmounted by two stone wolves (=loups) as a reminder of the owner's position as Master of the Wolf-Hunt to the Dukes of Lorraine.
